Health examinations

The school nurse will carry through:
• Regular examinations of the individual student, including audition and eye tests as well as measuring height and weight
• Conversations with students, either individually or in smaller groups
• Supplementary examinations and guidance of children and youngster with special needs
• Health effort concerning ordinary promotion of healthy living and prevention of illnesses

The municipal doctor will:
• Invite all students to two preventative health examinations:
• The examination of students in prekindergarten and kindergarten consists of a comprehensive health check, motor functions and coordination and conversation concerning wellbeing and overall development
• During the examination of the students in Lower Secondary the doctor has special attention on conditions that might have significance for the student’s chose of occupation.


In the school year 2009/2010 the following forms will be examined:

Kindergarten – the municipal doctor and the school nurse
Primary – the school nurse
Lower secondary – the school nurse
Lower secondary – the school nurse
Lower secondary – the municipal doctor

Healthy diet
A healthy and varied diet is very important if the students are to have enough energy to learn and participate in a proper manner. We expect that the students have had a decent breakfast at home and request that they also bring a healthy lunch pack. Soft drinks, candy and so on should only be brought on special occasions.

The school shop and the cantina are meant to be a supplement to the students’ lunch pack.

The school is currently working on making the shop and cantina even more healthy and up-to-date. 

Dentist

Dental care normally takes place in municipality, wherein the student resides. Students at Kolding Realskole and The Cosmo, who reside in the municipality of Kolding, can have their dental care at:

In case of an emergency you can call the emergency number 75 53 02 88 extension 11 between 11 and 13.

The dental care includes all children between the age of 3 and 18 years. The dental care includes regular examinations of the development of the teeth and their health condition as well as a prevention and treatment of illnesses and defects in the denture.

Children in the lower forms (up to and including Primary) will be invited along with their parents. For students in Primary to Lower Secondary the invitation will be passed out by the school. For Lower Secondary stage 4 and 5 and until the age of 18 the invitations will happen individually.

The orthodontics take place at:

Insurance

The school has a collective accident insurance, which covers death, disable-ment, damages to teeth and glasses during school hours (including excursions, trips and the like). The school also covers damages to personal items; if the school can be proven that it is to blame (because of lack of maintenance and the like). If another student has caused the damages, his or her insurance will cover the damages.

Travel insurance

When the students go on school trips and outings, they are covered by sudden illness, home transport in general and home transport in connection with ski holidays. The insurance does not cover if a student turns up late for transportation.

Apart from this the students are covered in the following specific situations:

          - cancellation insurance: up to 5.000,- Dkr

          - personal harm on someone else: up to 10.000.000,- Dkr  

          - damage on things: up to 5.000.000,- Dkr

          - justice advise: up to 100.000,- Dkr

          - surety: up to 100.000,- Dkr

Urgent help in a crisis:

The insurance covers help in a crisis situation, if the covered person is being affected by a terror action, natural disaster, or is exposed to a traumatic experience which demands quick help.

Evacuation:

The insurance is extended to cover evacuation as a consequence of the danger of an epidemic outbreak, and / or threats about terror along with natural disasters.

It is a condition for coverance that either Statens Serum Institut or The Foreign Ministry advise that you leave the country. There must not have been advised journey out of the country at the time of departure.
