Education at

The Cosmo

The Cosmo offers three educational programmes, Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP), Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme (CLSP) and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).

More than 1,100 schools and education providers are registered as Cambridge International Examination Centres worldwide; CIE thus operates in 150 countries around the world including the United Kingdom and Europe, South Asia, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, North America, Central and South America and Africa.

This enables students to change both school and country within the same educational system and without break up in their curriculum. All subjects are taught in English.

What is so special about the Cambridge programmes?

University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) is the world’s largest provider of international qualifications for 14–19 year olds. The CIE is part of the University of Cambridge and is a not-for-profit organization.

The mission of CIE

The mission of CIE is to work in partnership with education providers worldwide to deliver high-quality and leading-edge assessment services. They aim to be the preferred international provider of assessment services in the world through harnessing potential, lasting partnerships, high quality, charitable status and innovation.

Developing successful students

CIE was formally established in 1998 to provide high-quality, leading-edge qualifications that meet the ongoing demands of employers and educators across the world.

Working with governments around the world??

For nearly 150 years CIE has worked in partnership with ministries of education, qualifications authorities and examination and assessment boards around the world. In some countries such as Singapore, Cambridge examinations are the state qualification for students in secondary school. Tens of thousands of students take Cambridge exams every year.

The Programmes at a Glance

The Cambridge International Primary Programme is comprised of several elements, the core of which is the Cambridge Primary Curriculum Framework. This framework provides the learning goals for each stage.

The Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum Framework is the core of the Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme. The framework provides the learning goals for each stage.

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) has been designed for 14–16 year olds. Students who obtain an IGCSE qualification from Cambridge are prepared for further academic success, and will be equipped with the skills needed for immediate employment. Cambridge IGCSE is recognised as evidence of ability by academic institutions and employers around the world.

Cambridge IGCSE provides a broad study programme across a wide range of subject areas. With a choice of Core and Extended papers in most subjects, the Cambridge IGCSE is suitable for students with different levels of ability.

The Cambridge IGCSE is an internationally based curriculum, allowing teaching to be placed in a localized context, making it relevant in different regions. It is also suitable for students whose first language may not be English and this is acknowledged throughout the examination process.

The Programmes

Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP)

Overview

The Cambridge International Primary Programme gives schools a framework to develop Mathematics, English and Science skills and knowledge in young children. The Primary Programme provides guidance for curriculum development and classroom teaching and learning, and allows teachers to assess children’s learning as they progress.

Foundation for secondary education

The Primary Programme aids identification of a student’s strengths and weaknesses and can be used to support learning and development. The Primary Programme progresses students seamlessly into middle years curricula, such as Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme and IGCSE.

External Benchmark

As an international programme, the Primary Programme provides teachers with an external benchmark to inform their teaching and easily measure students’ progress over time. It also allows detailed, structured reporting to parents.

Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme (CLSP)

Overview

The Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme is a framework for educational success for students approximately 11-14 years old.

It builds on the primary stage, and develops children’s knowledge and skills in Mathematics, English and Science.

Lower Secondary also offers schools a means of tracking student progress through the lower secondary phase, with an integrated package of teaching, learning and assessment materials.

At the end of Lower Secondary, students can sit Cambridge Checkpoint tests which provide detailed feedback on students’ strengths and weaknesses before they move into the 14-16/IGCSE.

Developing Successful students

Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme is a framework for educational success for students approximately 11–14 years old.

International Benchmark

Lower Secondary offers an external, international benchmark of student achievement. This allows schools to measure standards over time and give detailed, structured reports to parents.

Cambridge Checkpoint tests are standardised, set and marked by CIE, so provide an international benchmark of student achievement enabling teachers to advise students and parents of the suitability of different progression routes.

Links to Other Stages

The Lower Secondary Programme has been developed to link seamlessly with the Cambridge International Primary Programme and provides standardised tests to allow careful monitoring of progress from primary to lower secondary phases. It also provides excellent preparation for students embarking on IGCSE courses.

At the end of the programme, the Cambridge Checkpoint tests are available to provide detailed feedback on students’ strengths and weaknesses. These tests are standardised, set and marked by CIE so provide an international benchmark of student achievement enabling teachers to advise students and parents of the suitability of different progression routes.

With a choice of Core and Extended papers in most subjects, the Cambridge IGCSE is suitable for students with different levels of ability.
